Have control over the number of calories you eat every day. Know how much your body needs to function through the day and compare this amount to how much you are taking in every day. You can adjust your lifestyle then to ensure that you are not eating more than you need. To help you, you need to get some facts right: a pound of weight is equivalent to 3500 calories. This is the amount you need to dispose of to lose one pound and you can do so in two ways; either burn this amount through exercise or eliminate this amount from your meals through out the day. If you succeed in this, you are already one pound down! Easy!

Exercise

Begin to exercise. We’ve already ascertained that you need to eliminate 3500 calories a day. The greatest impact will be had when you exercise. A person of normal weight, say around 160lbs, burns at least 300 calories by running or jogging gently for 30 minutes. A heavier person burns much more than this amount. This just shows how exercise can dramatically help you lose weight.

Stop the Junk

Step 3

Reduce your intake of your favorite junk instead of suddenly eliminating it all. When you cut it off completely, you end up getting cravings for the same every now and then. This won’t be the case if you make an allowance to be indulging once in a while. A different strategy would be to reward yourself with a piece of your favorite cookies, cake or chocolate every time you achieve a milestone in your weight loss. Just be careful that you do not end up eating one too many and regaining all the weight you worked so hard to keep off!

Keep Focused

Do not give up. The two weeks may be over before you achieve your goal of losing 10 pounds. Be easy on yourself and give yourself another 2-3 weeks. During this time, keep up with the habits you upheld in the initial 2 week period. Remember the intense pressure on the body for the 2 weeks may be too much and sudden for it to cope. Extending the period helps your body to recover and adjust easily. If you keep your goal in mind, you will no doubt achieve it. Patience will be a much needed virtue at this point because you are likely to be discouraged. If you feel like quitting, think about all those people who have stuck with it and realized their goal of weight loss. It will motivate you to keep going.
