We All Start With The Best Intensions
Lots of people start off with the best intentions for sticking to their plan to lose weight. They fully intend to get rid of those extra pounds and to keep them off from now on. So the question must be asked, why to they seem to always gain it back? They end up very frustrated and depressed. And why do so many give up before they even get to experience losing it? They don’t even get to see what it’s like.
Well, dieting requires some good planning. Will power is important, but knowledge about the proper ways to diet is what will get you there. You can find some people who are on endless diets, seems they have been on one for years. They must be making the same old mistakes again and again. So lets get a closer look at these mistakes and find solutions for them.
One of their biggest mistakes is believing that because something says it’s ‘fat-free’, that they can have more of it. This is simply not true. They need to understand that ‘fat-free’ is not ‘calorie-free’. Anytime you choke down more calories than your burn off, you gain weight. And the reverse is true for losing it.
Keeping Control
Other people opt for the low-carb diets. And their mistake was in thinking that eating all they wanted was ok as long as it was low-carb. Again, plain wrong. It’s a matter of keeping control over your portions. This is what will help you to drop the pounds, and keep down your overall intake every day. Counting calories makes a big difference, although I’ve heard many speak out against it. How else are you going to know if your diet will work?
One huge mistake is when you expect too much to happen too soon. Having a goal to drop thirty pounds is admirable. As long as you keep it realistic, like say over a period of months. But if you plan to do that in a few short weeks, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.
Give Yourself Enough Time to Achieve Your Goal
True lasting weight loss is something that should be gradual and permanent. Give yourself enough time to achieve your goals. Set short-term weekly goals. If you can lose one or two pounds a week, then stick with this until you reach that thirty you were searching for. There are some fast weight loss methods, but they are hard on your body, and the fat returns and many times in fuller force.
A lot of dieters make the mistake of not eating enough. If you don’t eat enough calories, then the metabolism slows down and your body ends up in starvation mode. This is a survival mode where the fat storage rises to perpetuate your survival, while the muscle tissue get broken down and burned for energy, not the fat. An adult female is suggested to take in under 1,000 calories each day, while the males are set at under 1200. Of course this should be give the green light by a physician.
This is a very common mistake among dieters, and is not planning on how to keep it off once they’ve lost it. They will take on one of those ‘miracle’ diets that enable them to drop the pounds quickly, only to see that when they get off the diet, the fat returns, and many times even more of it. Some of these diets are really dangerous. They are all designed to end sometime, and then you are left to return to the same old habits that caused you to need to diet in the first place.
Exercise & Dieting Come Hand in Hand
And I don’t understand how anyone can think of dieting without exercising if they’re serious about losing weight and getting good results. Exercise and dieting are like gas and oil to a car. They go hand in hand for gaining optimum performance.
So steer clear of the mistakes mentioned here and you will be on the road to experiencing much more success with your weight loss goals.
