Learning To Reduce The Amount of Food You Eat
In this enlightened day and age, it’s safe to assume that the average person knows that there’s no secret to losing weight: just diet and exercise. It’s just that many are overweight persons are too lazy or lack the motivation to stick to a weight loss program. But for those who are serious about losing weight, one big snag is learning how to reduce the amount of food that they eat every day. This article will give you some tips that will help you deal with this problem.
Burn More Calories Than You Consume
In order to get rid of your excess weight, you need to burn more calories than you are consuming each day. For a lot of people, this can be very tough because they have already formed the habit of eating a certain amount of food. One way you can get around this problem is by tricking yourself. Use a smaller plate (perhaps a salad plate) so that the food will appear to be in the quantity that you are used to. It will have the effect of leaving you as satisfied as if you had a bigger amount of food on a bigger plate.
Inside your brain is what is called the satiety center which signals your body when you are full and when you don’t want to eat any more. According to some studies, when you start eating at a normal pace then slow down, doing this will make you eat less. You can chew your food thoroughly and put down your fork once in a while so you’ll be eating more slowly than normal.
Don’t Keep Junk Food In The House
This tip is basically plain common sense – don’t keep any junk foods around the house. Toss them out, even if somebody else at home may want to eat them. What you don’t see, you don’t get. In their place, keep healthy snack foods like fruits, veggies, etc.
At mealtimes, concentrate only on what you’re eating. So turn the radio or TV off and have complete silence. Have you noticed that you tend to eat a lot when you are watching TV or surfing the net at the same time? What you’re doing is just automatically opening your mouth and shoveling food in unaware that you are already eating too much.
Exercise 3-4 Times A Week
Now all you need to do is add a simple exercise routine to accelerate your weight loss. According to some experts, walking at least 30 minutes three to four times a week is about all the exercise you need. Before long, you’ll soon be saying hello to a slimmer, healthier you!
